Our Mission
We are grassroots activists alarmed by the reckless abuse of power at a national level. We seek to effect positive change through peaceful protest and collective community action.
Our Goals
There’s no easy answer to this because everyone comes to the circle for a different reason.
It could be stopping the illegal war in Iran. It could be dealing with the horrific mismanagement of immigration and the crimes committed by I.C.E. It could be the decimation of our nation’s science infrastructure or the destruction of our free press. It could (and likely is) all of that, plus a lot more.
But perhaps our biggest accomplishment to date has been encouraging the people around us to recognize that they are not alone in opposing what the government has been attempting to do.
Everytime we welcome a new person who tells us, “I’ve never really protested before,” we know that we’ve helped someone become more politically active.
Everytime we see a child looking out of a vehicle that is going through the circle and reading the signs, we know that we’ve given that child something to think about and perhaps influenced them.
We’ve been building collaborations and community:
- We collect food for a food pantry that serves people who don’t have kitchens and have to rely on pre-packaged food.
- Some of our participants have gotten trainings so they can help as peacekeepers at events.
- Our social media and email newsletter (contact us HERE to subscribe) let people know about many ways they can become active, such as the weekly postcard-writing group in Hamburg. Beyond our own weekly pickets, we’re trying to connect people together and with other groups and activities as well.
We’ve got other activities in the works, too. So stay tuned and see what we’re up to!
